The first thing worth mentioning in year 1 pcc is our joining the German Cornhole Organization.
So now it's really getting going. Nothing less than the German Championships in Konz, of course. Unfortunately, we haven't had any success yet, but it was still fun. As always, when we're on the road together.
WE HAVE DONE IT. We brought the ACL German Open 2024 to Zwickau. The first real big cornhole tournament in our corner. Now we just have to hope that we can also welcome a few national and international stars. And, of course, we would also be delighted to welcome one or two interested spectators. Maybe we'll even find new members this way and who knows, maybe one of them is the next German talent of the century.
And another good thing - finally not having to travel 600 or more kilometers is also really nice.
1st Ore Mountains Trophy - After the events of the last two years in Wernsdorf, the tournament took place under a new name this year. 17 doubles and one player, who had to compete alone due to the lack of a doubles partner, took up the challenge of lifting the trophy. Our friends from Nuremberg, two titans from Landsweiler-Reden and many familiar but also new faces from our region were at the start again.
The partnerless player was none other than our own Bob, who had already shown at the Endless Cornhole tournament in the summer that he is very good at it. And this time, too, he knocked one team after the other out of the tournament. Despite a strong performance, he was only beaten in the final by the even stronger team from Nuremberg, Helmut and Christian.
Shortly before the end of the year, the club championship for the coveted Tom O'Grady Trophy was played for the first time. After exciting matches, Hendrik was able to prevail in the end and is thus the 1st club champion of Ore Mountains Cornhole e.V.
At the end of the year, the 2nd open Olbernhau town championship took place with 32 participants. In addition to the tournament victory, there were three other titles up for grabs: the SVO champion (for all SVO members), the Olbernhau town champion (for all Olbernhau residents) and the best female player trophy (for all female players). The OMC did well with two titles and two 2nd places. In the end, Daniel won the tournament, beating Jonni in the final. Kerstin was best female player and Hendrik was vice town champion.
